Get-A-Grip

My wonderful parents saw this and immediately thought of me and how much I would love this. So they bought it and told me that I don't have to worry about walking around campus in the snow and ice!! How cool are these!! They slip over your shoes to make any shoe an instant ice gripper. On the back of the package it says "More confidence on ice and snow" wow I think these were made for me!! Except there is a warning stating that the product can not prevent a slip or fall on slippery surfaces, remember to exercise care when walking or running.....haha we will see how I do walking around campus this winter :)

Dear Alissa,

Dear Alissa,

Sooo..... I had to get on to redesign your blog and write a post to brighten your day!!! (Yes, I still remember your password).

I know you have been struggling with the whole school thing and I wish there was more I could do to help! So today while I sit at work, I decided to write up all the blessings that come from school and more specifically... Weber State!
  • If it weren't for Weber, we wouldn't have gone to New York. (Yes, we would be less in debt but our memory banks would be empty!)
  • If you didn't have school to get up for everyday... you wouldn't wake up! Thus causing you to miss out on your opportunity to eat breakfast everyday. No one likes to wake up and eat lunch right away! ;) And it's unheard of for us to miss a meal... it's just not done...
  • If it weren't for Weber, there wouldn't be an institute, and if there wasn't an institute we wouldn't have met Bro. Rappleye! (Okay, so your dating life wouldn't be as colorful but at least you learned a lot from those experiences!)
  • If it weren't for Weber, we wouldn't understand the meaning of "Heck Hill".
  • If it weren't for school, we wouldn't be able to have sluff days! We can't sluff a job like we can sluff Math!
  • If it weren't for the Weber State Davis Campus, you would have never gained a love of sudoku puzzles and men named after building materials (Brick).
  • If it weren't for school, you wouldn't know how to drive from my house to Ogden in less than 15 minutes.... or is it 20 minutes.... or 5 minutes?
  • If it weren't for Weber, you wouldn't know how much you don't want to ever work in a preschool.... urine patches... yuck...
  • If it weren't for Weber, you wouldn't know how to pronounce "Fatima"...
  • If it weren't for school, you could craft all day!!! (Oh wait... that's a good thing... scratch that.)
  • If it weren't for school, you wouldn't have a cute book bag, recycle buttons and colorful pens.
  • If it weren't for Weber, you wouldn't know how to use the public transportation system. (You are becoming pro with the Dee Events Center bus!)

and last but not least....

  • If it weren't for Weber State, you wouldn't be my bestest friend because that's where we met! :)

Love, Cynthia

have you ever been....

So I have heard about this place but have never been! And I am finally getting a chance to go this weekend and I can't wait! I just hope I don't spend my life savings :D

Halloween!

I am so excited for Halloween this year! Mainly because I have the best costume! I was looking through the Martha Stewart Magazine (gotta love that thing!) and fell in love with this dress...

She is called Swamp Creature Couture, but I think I am going to say I am poison ivy or "going green" haha a few people have said I look like Eve...but I seem to be missing my Adam :)! So I went to Ross and found a black dress and then me and my mom went to Dollar Tree and cleaned them out of fake leaves! I sat for hours hot gluing the leaves on to the dress (burning myself a few times) and voila I have a beautiful home made costume! Mallory is going to do my hair (she has a wig I am going to borrow) and my make-up! I am all set to party! Now we get let the festivities begin!

Great News!!

Guess what....I have been accepted into the Teacher Education Program!! Can you believe it?! I am so excited to start on my official degree! After this semester I will have my Associates degree (which is awesome news because that means I am done with generals!) and then I start the teaching program. If all goes as planned I should graduate in the spring of 2013! It seems far away and then not at that same time, but either way I am very excited to start classes that I will actually use in the future :D

Thanks for all the advice!

I loved all the comments on what to do with my hair! :) So I have decided I want to cut some bangs into my hair and thin the crap out of it!! I have the thickest hair known to man! Cynthia always jokes that I could chop it off and donate it to the wooden toy horse factory so they can use it for the horse's mane! I want to grow it out till it reaches a little past my shoulders, but I think I need a trim just to get rid of the dead ends. I am still undecided about coloring it...I really like the natural low lights and highlights that are already in my hair. I think I just need to keep curling it so that it doesn't drive me insane like it does when it is straight!

Hair cut?

I really need to do something with my hair. I know I said I wanted to grow it out...but right now it is driving me CRAZY! I love long hair...I just do not have the patience for it. I am thinking of coloring it that purple brown color...a pretty purple brown not like puke purple brown. And cutting a couple of inches off...maybe? Ugh still not sure. Any suggestions?

Here is what my hair has looked like in the past...

haha wow I have had some great looks eh? And these are from the good days :) OK so I really like my hair longer...I just need something to help with the awkward stage it is in right now! Does anyone have advice on how to not chop it when it is driving you insane?!

My favorite movie!

Ok so I want you all to go out and rent or buy this movie as soon as you can!! It is so so good! I am in love with all the adventure, romance, comedy, action....it's just all around Great! Just when you think you have it all figured out it slams another surprise in your face! Of course it doesn't hurt to have Dastan to look at for two hours....

Oh my that man is F-I-N-E fine! Whew, talk about McDreamy and McSteamy combined!! He is one gorgeous male :)

Now I know you are probably thinking..wait I have heard of that name before..Dastan..hmm. You are probably thinking of the same Disney character I was; for their names are really similar. But don't confuse Dastan with another the other Disney character almost by the same name, Gaston, for they are completely different.

No Dastan is our hero in this story. He was raised on the streets of Persia as an orphan, fighting to stay alive. He jumps from the roof tops of the mud caked buildings, running away from the kings guards as he tries to save a boy being whipped by them and....wait. This story sounds strangely familiar....hmm. It sounds like another movie I have seen....oh wait...I know what it is...Aladdin! Yes! Dastan is Aladdin in modern day!

Gotta keep, one jump ahead of the breadline. One swing ahead of the sword. I steal only what I can't afford...That's everything!

Haha you will be singing this as he jumps around the rooftops :) I know Kristina and I did! Like I said before this is a movie worth watching!

Let's take one last look at perfection...

I have finally joined my generation!

I have wanted an ipod for years, seriously. So for my birthday this year I decided that I was going to get an ipod, particularly an orange or purple 16gb ipod nano. Well on Friday night my mom and I went shopping for her birthday and while we were out we stopped at Best Buy to pick me up my birthday gift. Guess what...they are discontinued! Yep no more. Best Buy doesn't even have them to sell and the new ipod nano's are on back order. So off to Walmart we go where again they have no old ipods just the new ipod nano touch. Luckily for me they have one in silver in stock so I picked it up. The little thing is pretty cool, although I am afraid I am going to lose it cuz its so small!

Looking for Groom :)

Ok so I am officially looking for a groom. Now please do not confuse this with a husband. No, they are not the same thing. For me all I want to do is plan a wedding, haha ok so I have been planning a wedding since I was two, and the only ingredient left is the GROOM! I have picked out all the colors, the dress, the veil, the cake, the shoes, the bridal party, the decorations, the venue, the flowers, the ring...haha even the date. Like I said all I need to acquire is a groom and the wedding is good to go! :) Now having a husband is COMPLETELY different than a groom, a husband requires me to be responsible in many ways that I am not. Such as in finances, nope not responsible there. In cleaning my room, nope not there either. In getting through school so can have my own insurance, haha still working on being responsible there. Yep like I said before just looking for a groom to finish the wedding plans, that's all I need :)

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Finally I have a minute to post pictures of my birthday party. Sorry it has taken this long! Hope you all understand. I am so grateful for all the help I had this year, I couldn't have done it with these wonderful people: Corianne, my mom, Cynthia, Meagan, Rachel, Kenna and Marc, my Dad, my Grandma, cousin Jr., Logan and of course all you wonderful people that came to celebrate! Here is a few highlights of the night.

Here is the outside decorations. We had a blow up snow globe (thanks to the Bills family!)

Every table had a Christmas table cloth and Christmas center pieces.

Of course it wouldn't be Christmas with out a Tree! :)

We decorated Christmas sugar cookies, it was a big hit with the kids!

And the big man himself made a special appearance for the event! Jolly ole St. Nick made it all the way from the North Pole to wish me a Merry Birthday!

Here is Santa's Helper...Grant!

Of course EVERYONE had to sit on Santa's knee :)

We just had to show off our lovely sweaters!!

The ugly sweater contest was so much fun! I couldn't believe how many people showed up in a sweater in August!!

Of course the night ended with dancing (how could it not!) and a little bit of Karaoke :)

A big thanks to all who made this year's birthday so special. Merry Christmas or Birthday to all and to all a good night!!

Guess what's almost here......

I am so excited for my birthday party this year! It is going to be so much fun :) I am getting invitaions out so be on the look out :)

Not angry...HAPPY :)

So I was reading that last post of Online dating and it sounds really angry. Like this underlying hostility is just waiting to rise up! Which is totally not the case! I am really happy where I am in life. I just want to date a little more than I am, haha which currently is not at all :) And I don't really like blind dates so I figure with this I can see their profile before actually meeting them in person. Haha and then this way I can stop dating all those homeless people ;)

Like you he's the middle child, Like you he is not a smoker, You both dig dinning out

Dear Match.com

I just wanted to say thank you for the match suggestion of HotStuff7109, MacGeek2 and Teddybear01. I can really see the potential for these young men...because I know that 30 is the new 20 they are considered young men. Some of our common interests include: bowling, weight lifting/machines, pets (specifically dogs), walking/hiking, dancing, and dinning out. And the exciting thing is we are both the middle child! That is such a great conversation piece!

Now the only concern I have is that they are looking for a slender, athletic and toned, a few extra pounds, or curvy woman that is 3'0"-8'0". I am none of these. Well when life gives you lemons make lemonade I guess, so we will just see if they can handle a girl that is 5'5" and full-figured.

Thanks again
sweetalissa24

Haha I just had to write a few things match.com would tell me and my match had in common. I am quite enjoying being on there. There is actually more LDS people than I thought there would be. So far so good :)

Good things come to those who wait...

....or do they? I was in the bathroom just a minute ago getting ready for bed and the thought occured to me...do good things come to those who wait? We have all heard the saying before, but is it really true? I for one do not think it is. Like for instance nothing good comes from waiting to lose weight, get back with your ex-boyfriend, have that favorite pair of shoes go on sale, start working on your term paper after you go see that new movie... all of those seem like a really bad idea to wait for. I turned 24 today and I am tired of waiting! How many people ask the question...how are you?...aka who are you dating? And I never have an answer other than good, just school and work. And their answer is always the same...oh don't worry your prince charming is out there. And I personally love the saying, oh love finds you when you are not looking and least expect it...haha and just pray tell who is not looking?! The only people I know who are not looking is my 12 year old brother and nuns waiting to take their oath! They only say you will find what you are looking for when you stop looking to make you feel better...I know because I said the same things to certain people. So I made up my mind to start looking. Yep, I am single and want to change that one fact in my life. I have now joined the millions of singles in cyberspace and started online dating. Yes I am going against the saying good things come to those who wait because I have waited and waited but nothing good has knocked on my door (haha believe me...far from good) so I am going to take it in my own hands. I am really excited for this new adventure in my life and feel really good about this decision!

Funny Quote

So I read the funniest quote the other day at work from Jill. She said, "I wish Mapquest would start on step five, I am pretty sure I know how to get out of my own neighborhood!" Haha I laughed right out loud when I read that! It is so true!! I get confused everytime I try and read all the steps and it is because I am confused on how it wants me to leave my own backyard! I just need to start reading once it is on the freeway :) Oh and who really has time to watch their miles on the dashboard to go .03 miles east?! That just throws me off!

couldn't put it down....

As hard as I tried, I could not put this book down!! I felt like I was living in a completely different realm of the universe, somewhere in space where sleep, food, company of people meant absolutely nothing to me. I consumed this book in a matter of two days...and that is with going to Clinton days and Jackie and Doug's going away dinner and church! I finished the second one in two short days and I picked it up again to read for a second time, not even a week later! Please go out and buy this book or borrow it from a friend..you will be glad you did! The third one comes out August 23rd I believe and I am waiting in line to buy it! You are all more than welcome to join me....just stand behind me :D Haha it is really that good!
