Funny Bones

A couple weekends ago I played one of the funniest games, it is called "Funny Bones." Cynthia and I had a couple of people come over to her house to play some games and Jeffery brought this. I have never laughed so hard. :)

So here is a little background. For this game you split up into partners one boy and one girl and draw a card off the ground and do what it says. On the card it tells you something like Head bone connected to the Shoulder bone with a number on it stating how many points its worth. So one of the partners puts their head on the other's shoulder with the card in between. The object of the game is to be the last couple standing with the most points. If you drop a card you are out, or if you can't do what it says you are out. There are also Funny Bone cards which act like wilds and can be placed anywhere you don't already have a card.

Alright so here we all are getting ready to split up into teams. There is me, Cynthia, Jeffery, Phillip, Vanessa, Michael, Eric and his brother Adam. So I kinda like Jeffery and Phillip so I am thinking I have a good shot at being with someone I like. Eric says he has to leave but Adam wants to stay and play a few rounds. The moment comes and Vanessa grabs Phillip, Michael and Cynthia get paired up and Jeff is going to show us how to play so who does that leave me with.....ADAM! A kid I just met, haha only my luck.

Everyone is getting easy cards, like head bone to shoulder bone, hand bone to shin bone, knee bone to knee bone. OH NO not Adam and I we get the most random cards. Hip bone to hip bone and nose to nose bone. And there is Cynthia's mom just taking pictures like mad cuz we are so entwined with each other it looks like we are making out! We played a second time and we were going to switch partners but Adam thought we worked well together. Haha needless to say we got pretty close pretty fast!

Need Birthday Game Ideas

So as all of you know I just LOVE my birthday! And I love birthday parties. So every year I try to have an extremely fun birthday party. Last year was a costume party, and it was a blast! Everyone showed up in costume and danced the night away...oh it was my favorite! Well this year I have been thinking about what I wanted to do and me and the girls at work came up with a Carnival theme party. I am super excited!!

So I have been brainstorming about what to have at this carnival and have a few ideas. What I am really lacking is stuff for the adults to do (yes I invite EVERYONE to my birthday parties). So far I have a bean bag toss, dart board, fishing pond, face painting, guess the jelly bean jar, and tin can ally. All of these seem to be more for the kids than the adults, so I am asking you bloggers for help in coming up with games for the adults to play. Also I don't want people to have to sit at a booth all night and not enjoy the festivities any ideas on how to set up the carnival? Thanks anything will help me out!!

What You Talkin' 'Bout?

So life has been crazy this past month (or maybe a little longer), but I wanted to post some things I found interesting or have been wondering about for a while.

I can name who is on American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and The Amazing Race before I can name the Mayor of Roy City. How sad is that?! I mean here is a man (or woman, but I am pretty sure it is a man) that has direct influence over my life, makes decisions that effect me personally, yet I do not take the time to know him. I will however DVR all my favorite shows so I don't miss a beat. I hate that I am more involved in the lives of people that don't matter at all than my own community. And what makes this even worse is my mom is on the planning committee for Roy city. She is involved in tons of city work, which makes me really proud. I am going to work on becoming more involved in my community (well at least know the Mayor's name!)

Something that has been really bothering me is how bad of a friend I have become. Everyone knows that if you want to talk to me you have to be the one who calls first. And I hate that. I hate being so predicable. I want to be the friend that calls you up out of the blue to check and see how things are going, invites you to lunch or a movie because you haven't seen each other in a while or even email to check in with each other. But the truth is I am not that friend. I forget to return phone calls and feel like I can never make lunch dates. I really feel that this summer is going to be different, I am going to make more of an effort to stay in contact with people.
Other thing I find interesting is the Swine Flu. Recently I required a cold and everyone asks me if I have the swine flu (some are kidding around)... no I don't have the H1N1 virus, just a plain human cold. There are some people extremely nervous of this flu, but I am not one of those. I think that we have better medical technology than we have ever had and this will get under control soon. Yes it is scary the way it has been spreading and effecting people, but I think if we all just go back to what we learned in elementary school we will be fine. Just wash your hands after sneezing or coughing, throw away used tissues and if you feel sick do not go to school or work in case of spreading it to others.

Oh, that's right---I hate Watermelon

I don't like watermelon. The taste, the texture, the smell, the seeds, how it drips down your chin when you eat it and makes your chin itch....yeah I don't like it, not even the artificial flavor. Yet every summer the lure of the children running around at the county fairgrounds with huge slices of watermelon in their hands and smiles on their faces makes me stand in line to get a piece for myself. The scenario is always the same, as I stare at my slice of melon I vaguely remember my dislike for this particular fruit, "But that was last summer," I say to myself, "This is a different fair so it must be a different batch of watermelon, everyone else is enjoying it so much it can't be that bad right?" WRONG, even on the first bite my taste buds remind me how much I hate it. As the juice runs down my chin onto my shirt and seeds fill up my mouth I curse myself for falling for the pink fruit once again and vow that next time I will be smarter. But here I sit, cursing myself because I have fallen once again for watermelon. I was positive this time was different, that watermelon wanted me back, wanted something more than just a summer fling. Everyone even encouraged me this time to try watermelon again, assuring me that they could see it working out, almost that we were made fore each other. So I risked it one more time, hoping, even praying that we could see it through. but watermelon rejected me, left me standing at the front of the line waiting for my slice of happiness but there was none to be found. My hopeless quest to like watermelon is finally over, I am done trying to confuse my senses into liking something that never works out. Although the journey was sometimes great, the watermelon ripe and seedless, in the end it was still watermelon and I still don't like it.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, any direction you choose.

Sorry it has been forever since my last post, to be honest I totally forgot about it. Everyone else is way good at keeping up, but I have never been one of those kinds of people. So I just wanted to write about what me and Cynthia have been up to. Last week for the Insitute Lunch they had green eggs and ham in celebration for Dr. Seuss's birthday, well you know how much I love to dress up so me and Cynthia made Thing one and Thing two costumes to wear for lunch and then to wear for the preschoolers while we read "The Cat in the Hat" it was so much fun. It is something I want to do for my future classroom!

Last Week of School!!

How excited am I that school is almost done, pretty darn excited!! I think I am even more excited to have the semester finish than I was to have it start haha and that is saying something. Things are going good in life. I just got called as a ward Missionary, and the best part is my neighbor is my companion! I think this will be one of the best things to help me prepare for my mission. This year I am making a lot of my Christmas gifts, and they are actually turning out pretty good if I do say so myself (hopefully everyone else enjoys them as well!)
